Starting a new business

The beginning

Starting a new business is very exciting. You have so many idea and plans and there is much to sort out. During this very busy time one of the last things you think you want to be bothered with is accounts and filing. It is tempting to put this issue to one side and wait until nearer to the end of the tax year and not spend limited money on accountants at this stage. This would be a very big mistake that could cost you dearly. There are many things you can do at the beginning that can put you in good stead as your company grows.

An accountant can give you advice that will more than likely pay for itself during the first year of trading.

Most people starting a business work very hard at getting off the ground and it is easy to get bogged down with paperwork and simply put it all in a box which you think can hand over to your accountants at the end of the tax year. This is not a good idea. Accountants charge by the hour and it could take them a long time to sort through all your papers trying to make sense of it all and this could cost you much more that it needs. In addition if there is some paperwork missing you will have to stop everything and find it. For example - If a bank statement is missing, and you bank on-line, it can be a very frustrating and time-consuming task to get a replacement. If your accountants canít understand something from your pile of papers then you will need meetings with them to get to the bottom of it.

So, a little money spent early on in consulting an accountant will be well spent. They will advise you on easy-to-run accounts systems, which year-end to chose, give payroll advice, whether to register for VAT or not, how to reduce your tax liability and much more.

Consulting an accountant is money well spent.

SW & A Accountants offer a free consultation/no obligation meeting and knowing how busy you are when starting up they will meet at weekends or evenings to discuss what they can do to help you.
